About The Project

 About the Project:

This project is born out of my deep respect and admiration for Emily Carr—a woman who, like many of us, faced personal struggles and societal pressures but channeled that into her art. By studying Emily’s life, I’ve discovered just how much we have in common. Emily marched to the beat of her own drum, and it’s that unique spirit that continues to inspire me today.

Through this blog, I aim to bring Emily Carr’s life and work to a modern audience, offering a fresh perspective on her journey and how it mirrors many of our own experiences. The project isn’t just about Emily’s art; it’s about the story of a woman who fought for her place in a world that didn’t always understand her. She lived boldly, created fiercely, and never gave up on her artistic dreams—despite the many challenges she faced.

As I work to bring this project to life, I hope to share more than just Emily’s art and achievements. I want to share the emotional connection I feel to her journey—how her story resonates with my own struggles as an artist and a person navigating the world. Whether it’s dealing with family dynamics, struggling with self-doubt, or simply trying to carve out a space where we can be true to ourselves, Emily’s life offers powerful lessons.

This blog is not just about art; it’s about resilience, freedom, and creativity—values that Emily exemplified in her life. By sharing her story, I hope to inspire others to embrace their unique paths, honor their creative journeys, and see beauty in their struggles. In Emily’s own words, “It is not how we paint, but what we paint that counts.”

This is my homage to Emily Carr—a woman who inspired me to pick up a brush when I thought I could never be an artist and to keep pushing forward, even when the world felt like it was pushing back.
